Andrew Boyens, New Zealand make the World Cup
November 14, 2009
We don't know if Andrew Boyens will be a Metro in 2010, but this morning, he became the first Metro in eight years to qualify for the World Cup. Boyens was an injury tine sub as New Zealand beat Bahrain, 1:0, to qualify for the first time since 1982.
If Boyens stays a Metro and makes the New Zealand roster for South Africa, he will become only the fifth player in team history to make a World Cup roster (Tab Ramos, Alexi Lalas, Marcelo Vega in 1998, and Clint Mathis in 2002).
