The New York Red Bulls defeated the Houston Dynamo, 6-5, in a penalty kick shootout after the two teams played to a 0-0 tie over 90 minutes on Thursday night at the Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, FL. New York will face Toronto FC in the championship game on Saturday at 8:30 PM ET.

After the first 10 penalty kicks were converted, the Dynamo's Geoff Cameron hit the woodwork on his attempt, before Red Bulls rookie midfielder Austin da Luz put his opportunity in the back of the net to give New York the victory.

Houston nearly took the lead two minutes in when the ball was passed to Danny Cruz on the left side of the penalty box and his shot slammed off the post. Minutes later, the Red Bulls had a great chance of their own when midfielder Roy Miller played a give-and-go with Dane Richards. Miller's open shot from close range was kicked away by a fully extended Pat Onstad.

In the 13th minute, Red Bulls forward Juan Pablo Angel's free kick was blocked by Onstad before the goalkeeper went down to cover it. Less than three minutes later, Houston's Shawn Saiko tried to put it inside the left post, but New York goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul stopped it.

New York had a golden opportunity in the 25th minute. Dane Richards made a streaking run down the right wing and hit a low cross to Angel, who couldn't get a good connection on his shot and put it wide. The Dynamo nearly scored six minutes later, as Lovel Palmer's header from a Bobby Boswell flick on went left.

Cruz again slammed the woodwork 12 minutes into the second half. The referee played advantage for Houston in the midfield and Cruz raced down the left wing, cut in and hit a right-footed shot off the far post. Ten minutes from full time, Miller flashed a Sinisa Ubiparipovic corner kick wide. Soon after, Jeremy Hall had a shot blocked in the box, got the ball back and tried to square it, but it went out of bounds.

The Red Bulls kept pressing, as da Luz slid the ball to an open Miller, whose low shot was off target with six minutes left. In the last minute, a Joel Lindpere free kick was punched away by goalkeeper Tally Hall.
