Media Day with Dane Richards
March 16, 2010
MetroFanatic: Dane, your last season was a lot of up and down.
Dane Richards: It was up and down for the team. We gotta work together as a team. We needed a team effort last year, and I was a part of it. Hopefully this year, we look more organized.
MF: So the big difference, this year to last year, is organization?
DR: Yeah, yeah. From the first game we played, the coach instilled organization. Everybody understand their role. We looked much better in the preseason.
MF: Preseason doesn't count.
DR: Yeah, it doesn't count. There are not points in the preseason. But hopefully, the performance can come forward to the season.
MF: You did score a great goal last year against Columbus.
DR: Yeah, the last few games we started to gel together, get some confidence, and I was part of it. It was a great team effort that game and I scored. Props to my teammates
MF: Last season, there seemed to be a lot of problems on the right side, you push up, Carlos Johnson would push up, and there would be lots of gaps.
DR: Yeah, as I said, we're organized. We understand each other. If I go, the right back stays, and he's always directing be forward, so I know what's behind me always. We've been working on it in preseason, and we will continue to work during the season.
MF: But who's gonna be play behind you?
DR: In preseason we tried a lot of people.
MF: But you'll be comfortable with whoever?
DR: You gotta play together and understand each other. It's all about understanding.
