The New York Red Bulls rolled to a 5-0 victory over Rutgers University Tuesday morning after two-goal performances from rookies Irving Garcia and Conor Chinn. The Red Bulls tested the Rutgers defense several times before punishing two defensive errors within a minute of each other. In the 25th minute, Garcia collected a misplayed clearance and slotted it home from close range. Shortly after, Chinn found himself in the same situation and finished a loose ball inside Rutgers' 18-yard box.

The Red Bulls made only one substitution during the match, replacing Chris Albright with Jeremy Hall at half. It was Albright's first match action since a season-ending injury in 2009. The match opened up in the second half with the Red Bulls moving the ball through the midfield more consistency. In the 54th minute, Hall played an early ball into the box towards Chinn, who found himself well-marked, but managed to turn the ball into the back of the net.

A Rutgers handball just outside of the 18-yard box in the 69th minute provided a dangerous offensive opportunity for the Red Bulls. Juan Agudelo made the most of the chance, redirecting Danleigh Borman's free kick past the goalkeeper at the far post.

The Red Bulls scored their final goal in the 74th minute when Garcia received a ball across the six-yard box from Tony Tchani and dribbled the goalkeeper before slotting it into the net.
