Seven minutes into today's Open Cup quarterfinal, Metro reject Dominic Oduro scored to put the Fire up 1:0. The game was over that very moment.

No, we didn't see the match, since Chicago's crack staff couldn't get the video feed going. But we didn't even need to listen to the radio feed or read the tweets. We knew it was over because RBNY didn't bother to show up.

While Chicago took the game seriously, playing their first team, the New York brass decided that they don't need to bother. Only fourteen players traveled, none of them regular starters. What's more, "Clever" Hans Backe and top assistant Jan Halvor Halvorsen decided not to travel, leaving Mike Petke and Carl Robinson (he's still officially a player) in charge of the team. So how can one expect?

Only complete and utter failure, which is what they got. Chicago rampaged to a 4:0 win and a berth in a semifinals. But who cares about one of the oldest competitions in world soccer when our team has exactly zero important trophies to its name?

For Emirates Cup is coming up!

Lineup: Coundoul, Jones, Lassiter, Keel, Albright, Schneider, da Luz, Kassel, Rooney, Ballouchy, Hertzog. Subs: Paullo, Hot.
