Goalkeeper Renny Vega claims RBNY contact
January 7, 2012
Venezuelan international goalkeeper Renny Vega, whose name first popped up on the rumor mill in November, has now claimed that RBNY has contacted him. "They've called me again," he told El Nacional. "That door is not closed. I'd like to have that last experience playing outside the country before I retire, I won't deny it. It's a very personal interest. If it doesn't happen, it's not a problem."
Metro's goalkeeping situation is currently in shambles, with Frank Rost's status for 2012 anything but certain. There are no other keepers on the roster.
Vega's career started in 1998. He's played for Aragua and Carabobo in Venezuela, before moving to Turkey's Bursaspor and Denizlispor. He returned to his native country and Caracas FC in 2009. Vega has been capped over 60 times for Venezuela.
