Could Caleb Patterson-Sewell be returning?
January 16, 2012
For over a month now, Erik Soler has talked about signing an American, European-based goalie. Could that target be ex-Metro Caleb Patterson-Sewell? According to Empire of Soccer, RBNY has inquired about his availability.
Patterson-Sewell spent 2008 with RBNY, but never appeared in a first-team match. Relegated to backup duties behind Jon Conway, he lost out to Danny Cepero when Conway got his season-ending suspension. Patterson-Sewell did impress in a friendly against Barcelona, but decided to take as step down to the USL the following year. He made a brief return as an emergency signing in 2009, and was in goal for Metro's triumph in the Mickey Mouse Cup during the 2010 preseason.
Patterson-Sewell spent 2009 with Carolina and 2010 with Miami, before making a move to Europe and the broadly-named Atletico Club de Portugal. There, he has been turning heads, leading the club to the top of the second division, and being linked to some of Portugal's leading teams, including Sporting Lisbon.
So could the hyphenated goalkeeper be the mystery target? As always, stay tuned.
