Jeremy Vuolo is the mystery keeper
January 18, 2012
It looks like the mystery goalkeeper finally has a name. It's Jeremy Vuolo, an ex-Syracuse player who was most recently in Finland with AC Oulu.
According to Corey Hertzog's tweets (oh, Twitter!), the two have been hanging out together, and, once you add up everything we know about the potential signing (young, American, European based), Erik Soler's only preferred scouting area (Scandinavia), and the fact that camp started on Monday... It all seems to add up.
Vuolo spent three years at Hartwick College before transferring to Syracuse in 2010. From there, it was off to Finland and AC Oulu of the country's second division. He posted 11 shutouts in 24 matches last season.
Update: Vuolo tweets, "Enjoying life as a New York Red Bull and looking forward to a successful 2012 campaign". So that settles that.
