Wilman Conde

Wilman Conde and Victor Palsson have not officially signed, but, according to Hans Backe, we might as well pencil them in. The head coach talked to the NY Post about the two players.

"Conde, I almost rate him as the best center back in the league," Backe said. "Physical, phenomenal left foot, good in the air, tackles, good understanding of the game, experienced. I think that is absolutely a player that has almost everything."

"We will of course get Palsson in as a central midfield player, I think that probably will be the last midfielder. He brings definitely a lot of size, physical strength and an enormous hard-worker. But also he's a good passer of the ball; the passing game is quite good. Those kind of characters in Iceland, they are like beasts working for 90 minutes. He brings a lot of physical strength, the right attitude to a team. I am very curious to see him. I haven't seen him that much, but everybody speaks very highly about him."

However, on Friday, Backe changed his tune a bit in an interview with MLSsoccer.com, saying that "I would like to see [Palsson] now in Mexico. He will probably join in tomorrow a little bit in training, then we leave for Mexico on Monday. Let's see him in a couple games."

Conde is scheduled to join the team in Mexico.
