Media Day with Joel Lindpere
March 22, 2012
MetroFanatic: Joel, on our website you've been player of the year two year in a row, as well as winning MetroFanatic Survivor two years in a row. So the fans have really been impressed with you the last two years.
Joel Lindpere: It's a big compliment for me, and an honor. I've had the two best years of my career, I played mostly every game, I scored goals, important goals. We got a nice stadium. I was lucky.
MF: But there's something about you that fans are drawn to.
JL: You know, I maybe gave up some things in my life, and I never give up. So you can have bad days, but you just can't give up. When you have supporters like we have, it's only a pleasure to keep going, even if you aren't having the best day. I really thank everybody in this, and looking forward to go on the same way.
MF: There were a lot of worries that you will not be back this year. How did the offseason process go?
JL: My situation wasn't simple. In November, my option was already picked up. I think the best thing was go through it and see how we can go on. And now I'm here, and I'm glad.
MF: A pundit said said you would not give 100%, that you would not be happy here, and I found that rather insulting.
JL: I was thinking, how will we go on with this club, will they make a lot of changes, but these things happen. You need to get some negotiations. It's not easy, especially in this league, on players' side, you don't have too many rights and options.
MF: Most importantly, the fans need to know if you visited some other states?
JL: No, not really, just some trips to Atlantic City...
MF: That's still New Jersey. No trip to Vegas when you were in Arizona?
JL: No... but there is time!
