Reserves do not lose at Foxboro, 1:1
July 8, 2012 (Official Game Summary)
Sainey Nyassi scored the equalizing goal in the 77th minute as the New England Revolution Reserves earned a 1-1 draw against the New York Red Bulls Reserves on Sunday night at Gillette Stadium. Guest player Quincy Amarikwa put the Red Bulls ahead in the 52nd minute as the teams played the first of two meetings this season, both at Gillette Stadium.
Despite the scoreless first half, the Revolution were under pressure from Amarikwa in a five-minute span midway through the stanza. Goalkeeper Alexander Bono was called on to make three saves on Amarikwa in the 34th, 38th and 39th minutes to keep it scoreless headed into the break.
Ryan Guy had the Revs' first go in the second half, forcing Jeremy Vuolo to save his shot from Diego Fagundez in the 47th minute. The 0-0 scoreline was short-lived, however, as Amarikwa finally figured out Bono and headed in Ryan Maduro's cross on the back post in the 52nd minute. New York guest player Giorgi Chirgadze then saw his 62nd-minute shot ring off the post.
Nyassi leveled the score in the 77th minute, tapping in a square pass from Fernando Cardenas as a Red Bulls defender went down. Nyassi continued to be active and forced Vuolo to save his 86th minute shot.
