Winger Lloyd Sam on trial
August 6, 2012

Last week, "Clever" Hans Backe spoke of a need for a speedy winger to replace the departed Dane Richards. Today, Lloyd Sam is trialing with the club. The trial will initially be for one week.

"It's very early, after one session. But anything more we'll see how he does over the next days and see what Hans thinks about him," Erik Soler told the NY Post. "We'll start off with him about a week. We know him from earlier, so we know that he has qualities. But we haven't seen him for like the last year, so it's hard to see if he's become better or worse. But we know that he has qualities, he's very good one on one, good left foot, good vision, so he has some assets. But we have to see if they're assets that we're really looking for and that's something we'll try to figure out."

The Englishman, 27, was most recently with Leeds United, but was loaned out to Notts County at the end of the 2011-12 season. He has also played for Charlton, Leyton Orient, Sheffield Wednesday, and Southend United.
