English press: Richard Dunne looks set
December 30, 2012

Ah, English tabloids! Never boring, are they? Today, the Sunday People is reporting that Aston Villa's Richard Dunne "looks set to join New York Red Bulls in the new year, [hold on, there is a caveat!] provided he can overcome his ongoing groin injury". Alright then!

Dunne has been at Villa since 2009, and has previously played for Man City and Everton. The central defender has played for Ireland 76 times, scoring eight goals. He was part of his country's 2002 World Cup and Euro 2012 squads. At Villa, he played for -- who else! -- Gerard Houllier.

According to the tabloids, RBNY's offer is £50,000 per week, which would clearly put Dunne in the DP range. Alright then indeed!
