Cursed Foxboro streak lives on after 1:1 tie

Maybe a victory in Foxboro is too much to ask for. After all, Thierry Henry does not play on its terrible surface. And with Jamison Olave held out as a precaution, and the third game in eight days...
No. Simply no. Even down Henry and Olave, this is a game that Metro could have had. Instead, they settled for a 1:1 draw, extending their winless streak in Foxboro to 11 years.
Heath Pearce moved into Olave's spot, and Roy Miller stepped in on the left. Juninho was also rested -- for the first half -- as Eric Alexander moved to the middle of the field and Lloyd Sam took over on the right. Andre Akpan made his first Metro start upfront, alongside Fabian Espindola.
As much as Metro controlled the play through most of the first half, it was the Revs who had the best chance of the period. Dimitry Imbongo got away with elbowing S. Markus Holgersson at midfield, and forced Luis Robles to make a big save on the ensuing breakaway.
The goals came a minute apart. The Revs struck first, off a corner kick in the 54th. Kosuke Kimura cleared the ball off the line, but, unfortunately, it didn't travel far, landing at the feet of Diego Fagundez. The Rev striker converted.
Metro responded immediately after. Kimura centered the ball from the right flank, where it was redirected by Akpan into the path of Lloyd Sam. The Englishman calmly took the shot to the right post for his first Metro goal.
At some point, it looked like Metro became content with settling for a tie. Robles once again came up big, making a huge kick save from a close-range Fagundez shot. At the end, a 1:1 result seemed fair, even if it did extend the horrible streak.
Oh well. One day the streak will be broken. That's all we're asking for at this point.
