Metro vs San Jose, 2010

In 2010, when the brilliant shiny new Red Bull Arena opened, Metro lost just three league home games during the regular season. In the playoffs, needing a tie to advance, they lost to San Jose, 3:1.

In 2011, once again the regular season saw only three home losses. The lone home playoff game had Los Angeles come out on top 1:0, behind the goal from ex-Metro Mike Magee.

In 2012, the regular season went even better: just two losses at Red Bull Arena. Playoffs? Ugh. 1:0 to DC Scum... let's not rehash this.

Seriously, why are we rehashing this?

In 2013, Metro lost just twice at home, the last time on June 1. But now with Houston coming in for a decisive playoff game...

It wasn't always like this. Despite their rather pedestrian playoff results, Metro actually had a winning record at Giants Stadium: five wins, four losses, two ties. That being said, the last playoff win came in 2005, and Metro followed it up by blowing it on the road in New England... Why are we rehashing this?

Of course, the trend will end someday. And considering Houston has never won at Red Bull Arena (or even at Giants Stadium), perhaps the time is now. Or maybe all of these results are a thing of the past, and none of this matters? Could the house of playoff horror finally become the house of playoff joy?
