Happy 2015!
January 1, 2015
Another year in the books. As far as Metro is concerned, 2014 wasn't that bad, was it? We slayed some long-standing demons, like beating the Revs at Foxboro, winning a playoff game at Red Bull Arena, and -- most important of all -- dumping the Scum in a playoff series.
And yet, it leaves us with more questions than answers. The four and a half years of Titi Henry magic are over. The brief reign of Tim Cahill could be as well. Jamison Olave was already shipped out. The core that remains has a number of solid players, but it needs to be augmented. Big time.
And then, of course, there is the matter of the expansion team over the river. The expansion team owned by oil sheiks (but then, who are we to question team ownership) that will cater to "fans" who spent the last two decades sneering at Metro. The expansion team that will try to prove that it really is from New York (or, at least, an offshoot of Manchester).
But let's not pay much attention to that. We have numerous issues of our own, on and off the field. 2015 promises to be... well, we don't know yet. Open-ended?
Happy New Year!
