Always there

On April 17, 1998, a desperate MetroStars team wandered into Chicago, looking for their first win after failing three times to begin the season. The coach, Alfonso Mondelo, decided to give a bleach-blond rookie his first start. Metro won, 1:0. Mike Petke was there.
On September 12, 1999, the MetroStars, in the middle of the worst season in league history, losers of 12 straight, were playing in Columbus. The coach, Bora Milutinovic, was out of answers. Metro won, 2:1. Mike Petke was there.
On August 20, 2000, the MetroStars were playing Colorado, just four days after Tampa's Mamadou Diallo stomped on the ribs of Metro goalie Mike Ammann. After a goal was scored, a t-shirt was displayed. "August 16: Crime of the Century", said the front. "Revenge is Coming", said the back. Metro won, 5:3. Mike Petke was there.
On October 28, 2001, the MetroStars played their archrival DC United, in the most peaceful game of all time. It was a friendly, part of the Unity Games to raise funds for 9/11 victims. Players wore FDNY and NYPD hats. It doesn't matter what the score was. Mike Petke was there.
On September 21, 2002, the MetroStars needed a tie in New England to clinch a playoff berth. The coach, Octavio Zambrano, would end up leading the team for the last time. The MetroStars lost, 3:0. Mike Petke was there.
On October 24, 2009, RBNY played the last ever game at Giants Stadium. The coach, Richie Williams, took over for the clueless coach, Juan Carlos Osorio, in the middle of a terrible season. The game was completely meaningless. RBNY won, 5:0. Mike Petke was there.
On March 20, 2010, RBNY played Santos in the first ever game at brand new Red Bull Arena. The game winner scored by a fan favorite, as the sold-out crowd roared with glee. RBNY won, 3:1. Mike Petke was there.
On July 12, 2011, RBNY played Chicago in the Open Cup. The coach, Hans Backe, was not there, leaving the reigns to his assistant. RBNY lost, 4:0. Mike Petke was there.
On November 7, 2012, RBNY was due to play DC Scum in the playoffs. Mother nature had other ideas, blanketing Red Bull Arena in a snowstorm. Shovel in hand, an assistant coach tried to clear the snow. A day later, RBNY lost to DC, 1:0. Mike Petke was there.
On October 27, 2013, RBNY played Chicago, knowing that a win will give them the first significant hardware in team history. Behind a magnificent performance, they got just that. "18 years!", Titi Henry said, handing his coach the shield. "18 years!" RBNY won, 5:2. Mike Petke was there.
On November 8, 2014, RBNY was playing DC Scum in the playoffs. They got the all-important away goal, winning the series, ending the Scum's season for the first time ever. RBNY lost the game, 2:1, but won the series, 3:2. Mike Petke was there.
You were always there for us, Mike Petke.
