Horrid home form continues as Metros lose to Dallas

The MetroStars' home winless streak reached four, as they fell to Dallas, 2:1. Playing without Clint Mathis, who will be absent for the next one-and-a-half months with the national team, the Metros could not produce much offense yet again, and only Diego Serna's brilliant goal saved them from being shutout.
Dallas got on the board just eight minutes in, as Tim Howard failed to hold on to a Dallas shot. Ryan Suarez pounced on the rebound to give Dallas the lead. The Burn then doubled it in the 39th minute, as Jason Kreis ran scored off a header from a perfect cross after the Metro defense left Howard hung to dry.
Serna's goal came three minutes after that, giving the Metros some life. The Colombian's first goal as a Metro came after a superb individual effort, carrying the ball from the midfield. Dallas goalie Matt Jordan failed the hold on to the ball, which ended up into the net.
The MetroStars then went down to ten men as Mike Petke was ejected late in the first half for an altercation with Kreis, who somehow was left on the field.
Although the Metro attack came alive in the second half, they could not produce. Tab Ramos had by far his best game of the year, but his efforts fell short. The teams were evened out at ten men in the 80th minute, as Dallas' Jorge Rodriguez was shown the door for a horrendous foul on Daniel Hernandez. But it was not enough, and the Metros dropped to .500, and 1-3-1 at home, with the loss.
