Dane Richards returns on trial
February 16, 2015
The list of trialists is out, an on it is a doozy: Dane Richards. The right winger, responsible for one of the great performances in team history, the 3:0 road playoff victory in Houston in 2008, is looking for a new team.
Richards was most recently with Bodo/Glimt in Norway, where he played for ex-Metro assistant, the giant-nosed Jan Halvor Halvorsen. Richards' MLS rights are owned by Vancouver, as the result of the ill-fated trade for Sebastien Le Toux that sent the Jamaican away in 2012.
Richards joins: unsigned draft picks Shawn McLaws and Manolo Sanchez, returning but unsigned Marius Obekop, surviving trialists Anatole Abang, Anderson Cajano, Mike Grella, Colin Heffron, and Tim Ward, as well as the following new names:
Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, D, 30, Colombian, five years in Seattle, one split between Chicago and Chivas USA
Kemar Lawrence, D, 22, Jamaican, full international, plays with Harbour View
Karl Ouimette, D, 22, Canadian, played three years in Montreal, including one for Jesse Marsch, capped for Canada
Anthony Wallace, D, 26, played for Dallas and Colorado, spent last year with Tampa Bay in NPSL, actually capped once for USA, played for Metro on guest basis in the first Florida camp
