The MetroStars defeated the Hampton Roads Mariners of the A-League, 3-0, in an exhibition Friday night at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Newly acquired striker Mamadou Diallo led the MetroStars with a goal and assist in the win.

The MetroStars, who play their next league game on June 15 against Los Angeles at Giants Stadium, fielded their entire first team line up that enabled head coach Octavio Zambrano to play all of his recently acquired players with the veterans.

Jamaican international midfielder Andy Williams opened the scoring in the 15th minute by poking a badly played ball by the goalkeeper for the goal.

Diallo recorded the second in the 30th minute when he slammed home a Ross Paule cross for a 2-0 lead in the first half.

Tab Ramos put the game away in the 50th minute when he took a Diallo pass outside the box, beat a defender one-on-one, and easily notched the final goal of the exhibition rout on a warm evening in Virginia Beach.
