Amobi Okugo trialing to plug hole in defense
March 23, 2016
Last weekend, Gideon Baah and Ronald Zubar both went down with hamstring injuries, leaving Metro with the central defense pairing of Karl Ouimette and converted left back Kemar Lawrence. Even though Zubar's absence is not necessarily a bad thing, the only other center back on the roster is rookie Zach Carroll. So it looks like the junta in charge is tring to find some help elsewhere.
Could that help come in the form of Amobi Okugo? The once highly-rated defender has arrived on trial. Okugo spent five years in Philly, the last three as a starter, before splitting 2015 between Orlando and Kansas City. He was released by KC the past offseason.
"Amobi could be a short-term and a long-term solution," Jesse Marsch told BigAppleSoccer.
