Karl Ouimette assaulted in USL game
May 7, 2016
RBNY II beat Pittsburgh in USL, but the big story was not the result. With three minutes left in the match, Riverhound forward Romeo Parkes committed an act that is more fitting for a prison yard than a soccer field.
In the 87th minute, Parkes and RBNY's Karl Ouimette were both issued red cards. As Metro's Canadian was walking off the field, Parkes kicked him from behind in the back. Ouimette fell to the turf, lying there for a good ten minutes, before leaving on a stretcher.
Thankfully, Ouimette did not suffer any long-term effects. The punishment for Parkes was swift: a day later, Pittsburgh terminated his contract.
