A season that looked to have been turned around will need to be turned around once again. Metro's winless streak in all competitions reached four games, as, for the first time ever, they dropped a match to the blue poseurs from New York City, 2:0. This has not been exactly a good fortnight.

Jesse Marsch made few changes from the Open Cup lineup. Luis Robles obviously returned for Ryan Meara, Chris Duvall stepped in for Ronald Zubar, Felipe returned for Sean Davis, and Alex Muyl once again pushed Lloyd Sam to the bench.

Eight minutes in, the blue team scored. Off a corner kick, the ball was swung to Jack Harrison outside the box. Metro quickly realized that he was completely unmarked, but attempts to close him down were halfhearted, as he beat Robles to the short side.

Metro was actually the better team the rest of the half, but NYCFC packed its box with defenders, and the final shot was just not there. In the second, Aurelien Collin had his flying header saved, and Felipe was set up for a point-blank header that somehow went across the goalmouth and wide.

In the 66th minute, with most Metro players caught upfield, the blue team turned a counterattack into a goal, as Harrison found David Villa to tap it in. In the 79th, Duvall was given a straight red, and that was all she wrote.

Well, they turned it around once before, right?

Lineup: Robles, Lade, Collin, Duvall, Zizzo, McCarty, Martins, Kljestan, Grella, Muyl, Wright-Phillips. Subs: Sam, Veron, Abang.
