Omer Damari to taste synergy?
August 1, 2016
Could the ballyhooed Red Bull synergy actually be working? According to BBC correspondent Raphael Gellar, Israeli striker Omer Damari could be RBNY-bound. "RB Leipzig management has informed Omer Damari that he will be sent on-loan to the New York Red Bulls until the end of the season," tweets the reporter. Kristian Dyer confirms, siting a league source that Damari will join.
Damari signed with Leipzig a year ago, and already had some synergy imposed on him: he spent part of the season on loan with RB Salzburg. That was his second time in Austrian soccer, after previously spending time with Austria Vienna. He has also played with Maccabi Petah Tikva and Hapoel Tel Aviv in his native land. Damari has been capped 20 times for Israel, scoring nine goals.
Previous synergetic loans were all coming through Salzburg. Markus Schopp came over in 2006, and Brian Nielsen was part of a headscratching three-card monte in 2010 and 2011. Other Metro players with Red Bull ties were Ernst Oebster and Ibrahim Sekagya. The former's loan was denied by Salzburg, but he did move to NY on a free transfer for the tail end of the 2009 season. The latter came to Metro in 2013 after his Salzburg contract expired.
