After Ronald Zubar's option was not picked up, the club kept open a possibility that he will return in 2017. Looks like that is no longer the case. The Frenchman penned a post on Instagram, saying that he "hasn't reached an agreement to extend my deal with the New York Red Bulls after a couple of weeks of talks. As a consequence, I won't be returning to the squad."

Zubar spent two injury-prone years with Metro, starting on and off in central defense. He scored four goals in all competitions in that span. A key moment of his Metro career was late in 2015, when he was forced to become a playoff starter due to Damien Perrinelle's injury.

Even though Zubar's departure is not necessarily unwelcome, the hole in central defense keeps growing bigger.
