Kljestan 2
02.15.17 · Preseason

Yes, it was only preseason, and the pace wasn't exactly fluid, and the opponent used a bunch of second-stringers, and the game was played in Arizona, but Metro easily got the best of the poseurs from across the river. Sacha Kljestan scored both goals.

The opener came in the 23rd, with Bradley Wright-Phillips pouncing on the ball just outside the box, and sending it through to Gonzalo Veron. The Argentine could have shot, but decided to center it to Kljestan, who easily converted.

In the 39th minute, Aurelien Collin got all ball when tackling Khiry Shelton, but the referee pointed to the spot anyway. Sean Okoli thought he could fake out Luis Robles with a stutter-step, but he thought wrong, as the Metro goalkeeper easily saved the shot.

Four minutes later, a terrific through ball from Daniel Royer found Kljestan, who slotted it home. The newly-minted Metro captain could have had a hat-trick late in the second half, but his goal was called back on a questionable offside decision.
