August 10, 2017 (Official Press Release)
The New York Red Bulls have signed midfielder Dilly Duka to an MLS contract, the club announced today. Duka, a native of Montville, NJ, joins New York after most recently playing with Columbus Crew SC.
"Dilly is a veteran player that our staff is very familiar with," said Red Bulls Sporting Director Denis Hamlett. "We've been able to have him in training for two weeks and we've liked what he has shown. He brings attacking quality and experience to our roster, and we expect him to contribute moving forward."
Duka was originally drafted by Columbus eighth overall in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft after two years at Rutgers University. He played two seasons with Columbus before moving to Chicago, then Montreal, and re-signing with Columbus in 2016.
"I'd like to thank the organization for the opportunity," said Duka. "I'm here to give 100 percent every day, and to help contribute in any way I can. The Red Bulls organization is first class and I see every day that every player is hungry for team success."
In eight MLS seasons Duka has made 138 league appearances, including 95 starts, scoring 12 goals and 14 assists. He also has three years of MLS playoff experience, two with Columbus and one with Montreal.
"We are pleased to add Dilly," said Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch. "We knew he was a talented, quality player and he has shown well in his time here. He's also a veteran of the league that we think improves our roster both on game day and in training. We look forward to integrating him into our team."
