We have to be honest: we didn't think Metro had it in then. Down 2:0 with 15 minutes left? It didn't matter that they were playing a minor league team. Only a miracle could save them...
It was no miracle. It was Bradley Wright-Phillips, adding to his ever-growing legend by first tying the game in regulation and then winning it in extra time... Wait, that's not the full story. Let's not forget Gonzalo Veron, who started the comeback.
Oh, Gonzalo! Without you pouncing on a loose ball and slamming it home, none of this happens. Thanks, Gonzalo!
And thanks, Tyler Adams, for the fantastic cross on BWP's first header! And thanks, Sal Zizzo Jr., for the fantastic cross on BWP's second header! That's right, the much-maligned Zizzo Jr., coming through with the perfect cross!
And thanks, Adams again, right after the goal, for clearing a breakaway in front of an empty net! Maybe that was the miracle...
No need to look for miracles. Let's enjoy Metro's third trip to a final, its first in nine years.
Thanks, everyone who gave their all tonight!
Lineup: Meara, Long, Perrinelle, Murillo, Lawrence, Adams, Martins, Davis, Kljestan, Muyl, Wright-Phillips. Subs: Zizzo, Veron, Etienne.
