The New York Red Bulls fell, 5-0, to the Houston Dynamo at Kino Sports Complex featuring a mixed roster of MLS, USL and Academy players Saturday night.
New York nearly broke through for the opener in the 11th minute with Ben Mines making two consecutive runs in behind the defense forcing two saves from Houston goalkeeper Joe Willis.
Six minutes later, Academy products Steven Echevarria and Ben Mines connected on a combination that started at midfield and ended with an Echevarria shot just blocked outside the 18.
Houston responded in the 30th minute with Boniek Garcia scoring on a rebound off an Evan Louro save.
Five minutes before the first half whistle, Andrew Wenger doubled Houston's lead on a header past Louro.
Amidst multiple rotations from both sides, Houston found the back of the net an additional three times in the 55th, 77th and 83rd minutes.
