Clint Mathis is back, and so are the Metros. Just three days after playing their worst game of the season, the MetroStars regrouped in beating the Revolution, 2:0. Mathis created both goals and could have caused two more if not for Rodrigo Faria's atrocious finishing.

The Metros got on the board just five minutes into the game, as Mathis took a pass from Steve Jolley deep in the Metros' half, and placed a perfect half-field long pass to the onrushing Mamadou Diallo. Diallo easily beat Adin "Cult! Cult! Cult!" Brown to give the Metros the early lead.

In the 32nd minute, Diallo was red carded for an event similar to the infamous Mike Ammann incident of 2000. Mamadou, will you ever learn???

As the Metros went down to ten, the team resigned to stay back and counter-attack on rare occasions. Faria's entry into the game in the second half saw him blow two clear chances, as in both cases Mathis served perfect balls to the Brazilian who was left one-on-one with Brown.

Tim Howard was once again amazing, getting his third shutout in four games, saving numerous Revolution chances. The second Metro goal came five minutes from time, as Brown couldn't hold a shot by Mathis, who just made a beautiful move on the sideline to break free. Mark Lisi, just inserted into the game, easily kicked in the rebound.

Lineup: Howard, Chronopoulos, Petke, Jolley, Ziadie, Moore, Paule, Davis, Williams, Mathis, Diallo. Subs: Faria, Addo, Lisi.
