After having Thursday's Mobile Mini Sun Cup opener cancelled, Metro's reduced schedule saw them play Portland. Using a lineup of mostly reserves, draft picks, and USL players, Metro jumped out to a 2:0 lead before settling for a 2:2 draw.

In the 13th minute, a perfect Marcus Epps cross was met in the goalmouth by the onrushing Brian White. In the 32nd, Sean Nealis got his head on a corner to float the ball into the net. Portland's goals came in the 62nd and 70th, the latter from a penalty.
