For all the success Atlanta has had in MLS so far, it's clear that they have a chip on their shoulder when it comes to Metro. Even after beating them in the playoffs last year, the inferiority complex is still obviously there. Be it the chippy fouls or the constant whining, it's clear that Atlanta knows that when Metro is at their best, they can't be beat.

They weren't at their best tonight. Once again forced to start a cut-rate defense, Metro gave their all, dominated for long stretches, but had to settle for a 3:3 tie after a wild finish.

After the midweek debacle in Houston, Chris Armas reverted to the usual formation. The good news was that Kemar Lawrence was back from Gold Cup duty; the bad was that next to Amro Tarek, the other defenders were Sean Nealis and Kyle Duncan. Daniel Royer and Marc Rzatkowski returned to the midfield, Tom Barlow was sent to the bench, and Michael Murillo and Alejandro Romero Gamarra were suspended.

Atlanta opened the scoring in the 10th minute. A Metro free kick in midfield saw almost the entire team caught upfield. After a turnover, Atlanta went the other way, and Justin Meram went through Duncan to open the scoring.

Metro responded in the 37th minute. After an Atlanta goal kick, Alex Muyl stole the ball and sent it to Rzatkowski. The German quickly centered it to Royer, who swapped feet, and slotted home from the top of the box.

Metro started to control the game from that point on. Atlanta could do little to get the ball in dangerous situations. In the 60th minute, the home crowd was stunned after a perfect low Muyl cross found an onrushing Brian White. 2:1 Metro.

Of course, with Atlanta involved, you knew a dubious officiating call was coming. This one wasn't as bad as others, as Duncan did get his hands on Josef Martinez in the box, but the diver made a meal of it to earn the call. He converted from the spot in the 80th to level the game at 2:2.

And then -- horror of horrors! -- a minute into injury time, Martinez, who was held in check by Tarek and Nealis for all of regulation, got his head to the ball and slammed it under the crossbar. Despite dominating much of the game, Metro looked to exit as losers.

Not this time, they didn't. Three minutes into injury time, Casseres sent in a pass that bounced in the box and trickled until it found its target, super sub BWP. His 126th in all competitions tied the game at 3:3... and kept that chip on Atlanta's shoulder that much longer.
