Former MetroStar John DeBrito passed away yesterday. He was 51.

DeBrito, a left back, played eight games for Metro during the 1997 season. An original member of the New England Revolution, he also played for Kansas City, Columbus, and Dallas, becoming one of the first players in MLS history to suit for five teams. The Cape Verde-born DeBrito earned six caps for the United States in the early 1990s.
