Metro by the Numbers: 33 - 99
April 17, 2020
#33: Aaron Long, 2016- Long rose from midfield obscurity to become Metro's first ever MLS Defender of the Year. Sorry, Kenny Cooper.
#35: Andrew Jean-Baptiste, 2015 Played 45 minutes of an Open Cup game.
#39: Juan Agudelo, 2010 Your choices: Agudelo, but in 2010 only (he switched to #17 afterwards), Teddy Schneider in 2011 (only played in that forgettable Open Cup run), and Saer Sene in 2014 (speaking of forgettable non-league runs). So, yeah, Agudelo... until Mandela Egbo?
#40: Alec Dufty, 2009 82 shutout minutes from Dufty in 2009, or a full game with two allowed goals from Chris Konopka in 2011? Dufty, of course.
#41: Ethan Kutler, 2018 Five games, two assists. Many have done much worse.
#42: Brian White, 2018- U-23s to RBNY II to the first team to key contributor.
#44: Carlos Mendes, 2010-11 Mendes' last season and a half were spent wearing #44, thanks to Rafa Marquez. The only other player to wear the number? Victor "The Urinator" Palsson.
#47: Hassan Ndam, 2017-18 Big chance for John Tolkin.
#55: Damien Perrinelle, 2014-17 Such a key performer during the 2015 Shield, Metro's playoff chances took a giant dive when he got injured in the playoffs.
#60: Jeff Parke, 2007-08 One #60! There's only one #60! Of course, he started at #12, Jeff Agoos' acquisition forced him to #5, Steve Jolley's to #23, and Ronald Waterreus' to #60.
#62: Michael Murillo, 2017-19 Murillo was really, really good in 2018. After that...
#71: Diego Serna, 2002 Forced to wear #71 because Marcelo Balboa took #17... The less said at this point, the better.
#74: Tom Barlow, 2019- The second player to wear #74 in league history has scored five goals in limited time already.
#77: Daniel Royer, 2016- Already has scored more goals for Metro than anyone not named Bradley, Juan Pablo, or Thierry.
#78: Aurelien Collin, 2016-18 Collin was really, really good in 2016. After that...
#88: Peguy Luyindula, 2013 Peguy wore #8 in his second year, but he did have the amazing, three-assist, shield-clinching performance wearing the larger number. Bill Gaudette also wore this, but come on.
#90: Marc Rzatkowski, 2018- Marc chose the number because he was born in 1990.
#91: Dane Richards, 2015 Your choices are: Sacir Hot (two sub appearances in the 2011 Open Cup), Richards' pointless return in 2015, or Rece Buckmaster.
#92: Kemar Lawrence, 2015-19 The best left back in team league history.
#98: Shaun Wright-Phillips, 2015-16 Big brother Shaun joined little brother...
#99: Bradley Wright-Phillips, 2013-19 Thanks for playing!
