Omar Sowe exiled to Iceland

The New York Red Bulls have loaned out forward Omar Sowe to Breidablik for the remainder of the 2022 MLS season, club announced today.
"We want to see Omar continue to get minutes and grow professionally at a top division and think this is a great opportunity for him," said Red Bulls Sporting Director Denis Hamlett. "We wish him the best for the rest of the season in Breidablik."
Sowe, 21, signed with New York and made his first appearance for the Red Bulls on September 11, 2021, coming on off the bench in 1-1 draw against D.C. United at Red Bull Arena. The Harrison, NJ native finished the 2021 season with Red Bulls II, where he led the club in goals scored (8), shots (55), and chances created (37). Sowe has logged 47 games played in his three seasons with the club and has scored 17 goals, which is fifth all-time in Red Bulls II history.
The forward joined Red Bulls Academy in the beginning of 2019. He appeared in 15 matches and scored nine goals. Sowe set offensive records at Harrison High School before joining the Academy, he tallied 89 goals and 67 assists for the Blue Tide. He was named Section 2 Player of the Year in 2018 and is a two-time NJSCAA All-State selection.
