RIP Louis Ken-Kwofie
June 26, 2022

Former MetroStar Louis Ken-Kwofie passed away on Saturday. He was 53.

Ken-Kwofie, one of the most obscure players in team history, played one game for Metro: the meaningless regular-season finale in 1996, a 4:1 loss to Tampa. He was called up from the minor league New Jersey Stallions as the game would have no impact on Metro's playoff positioning. The midfielder started and played the entire match. He was the 36th player to play for the MetroStars in the regular season, an MLS record that stood until Mo Johnston's Toronto broke it in 2007.

For the past three years, the Ghanaian coached his alma mater, Hudson Catholic High School, in Jersey City.
