Daniel Edelman signed to contract extension

The New York Red Bulls have signed Warren NJ native Daniel Edelman to a new MLS contract, the club announced today. Edelman has signed a new four-year MLS contract through 2027 with an option for 2028.
"We are very excited to keep Daniel at the club for the long-term and continue with us," said Head of Sport Jochen Schneider. "Daniel exemplifies all our core values and has a great winning mentality. He is a player that leads by example and will continue to represent our club in the best way on and off the field."
Edelman, 20, has played with New York for the last two seasons, where he has accumulated 39 MLS appearances. This past season he set new single season career highs in games played (23), games started (22), minutes played (1,861), assists (1), and shots (10). Edelman tallied his first career professional assist in New York's 4-0 win over Atlanta United FC on June 24 and he also scored his lone goal of the season in this match, which was the game-winning goal. The midfielder was named to the 2023 MLS 22 Under 22 list, ranking in the No.21 spot.
The Warren, NJ native captained the United States U-20 National Team at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in May. He made five appearances at the tournament and totaled 291 minutes played. Edelman has made 15 career appearances with the U-20 USYNT and has also made five appearances with the U-16 USYNT.
