Luquinhas to return to Brazil?
January 2, 2024
Adding good players is very important (see: Forsberg, Emil), but getting rid of average players is very important as well (see: Barlow, Tom). And getting rid of one average player might be more important than all others: Luquinhas.
The midfielder takes up a Designated Player spot, and, while his season-end numbers look somewhat respectable (three goals, six assists in all competitions), they are not exactly... good. (Yes, he earned a few set pieces, including the one that sent Metro to the playoffs. Fine. He also went an entire 12-month period with a solitary goal and assist to his name.)
Esportes O Povo is reporting that Luquinhas might be returning to his native land to join Fortaleza. Territorio MLS confirms the interest, going further: "the parties are negotiating the player's permanent transfer to the Brazilian club".
Luquinhas is under contract through 2024, with an option year to follow.
Stay tuned...
