Bulut, Ibisevic added to coaching staff

The New York Red Bulls have announced that Volkan Bulut, Vedad Ibisevic, and Ibrahim Sekagya will serve as assistant coaches under Sandro Schwarz.
Jeremy Proud will continue to serve as Goalkeepers Coach for the first team. Dominik Wohlert will continue to serve as the Head of Performance Analysis and will have an on-field role as well. Daniel Fischer will join Schwarz's staff as Senior Performance Analyst.
Sekagya will also continue to be the Head Coach of New York Red Bulls II. Bulut and Ibisevic will join the Red Bulls, pending the receipt of their work visas.
"I am excited to add to my coaching team with Volkan, Vedad, and Ibrahim -- they all bring valuable experience that will help in this season ahead," said Head Coach Sandro Schwarz. "We are all excited to get going together and prepare for the 2024 season ahead."
Bulut, 41, joins Schwarz's staff after previously being on his staff during his stints at Dynamo Moscow and Hertha Berlin. Bulut brings 11 years of experience as an assistant coach and has coached also at TSV Havelse, SC Paderborn, FC Schalke 04, and Hannover 96. Bulut had a 10-year playing career where he played for TuS Celle FC, SC Langenhagen, VfV Hildesheim, and FC Can Mozaik.
Ibisevic, 39, joins New York after serving as an assistant coach with Hertha Berlin since 2022, which was the beginning of his coaching career. He played collegiately at Saint Louis University in 2003, where he was named one of the Top 25 recruits in the nation. He played professionally for Paris Saint-Germain, Alemannia Aachen, 1899 Hoffenheim, VfB Stuttgart, Hertha Berlin and Schalke 04. Ibisevic played internationally for Bosnia and Herzegovina, where made 83 appearances and scored 28 goals. He played in Bosnia and Herzegovina's first FIFA World Cup appearance in 2014, where he scored the first-ever Bosnia goal in FIFA World Cup history against Argentina.
Sekagya, 43, in addition to continuing to serve as head coach of the New York Red Bulls II for his third season, will also become an assistant coach for the New York Red Bulls. In his first full season at the helm, Sekagya led NYRB II to the Eastern Conference semifinals in their first season in MLS NEXT Pro, the club had a record of 14-8-6 and finished fourth place in the Eastern Conference. Prior to being head coach, Sekagya served as an assistant coach for NYRB II since their inaugural season in 2015. The Kampala, Uganda native played for the New York Red Bulls for two seasons in 2013 and 2014, where he made 41 appearances across all competitions and was a member of the 2013 Supporters Shield winning team. He also played for Red Bull Salzburg from 2007 to 2013, where he made 225 appearances for the club.
