The New York Red Bulls have added NYRB II defender Omar Valencia on a short-term agreement to replace an Olympics call-up for tonight's match against the Colorado Rapids and for Wednesday's match against CF Montreal, the club announced today

Valencia, 20, has made 31 appearances for NYRB II over his three seasons with the club. The defender has made 11 appearances this season with one assist, which he recorded in a 3-2 win over FC Cincinnati 2 on March 28.

The defender was the only MLS NEXT Pro player this season to be called in for Copa America, as he was called in by the Panama National Team. He made one appearance during the tournament playing against Colombia on July 6. He is the first active MLS NEXT Pro player to play in Copa America.
