Down two goals, 30 minutes left, Metro puts in... Cory Burke.

Yes, this is how we're starting this recap. Cory Burke, the bumbling, incompetent striker who can't sniff a goal if it was in front of him. Cory Burke, who is given the task to rescue a point. Do you think Cory Burke succeeded? No, because Cory Burke sucks!

This is not about Cory Burke, however, (but it is also about Cory Burke!) It's about Serge Ngoma (it's just like signing a new player!) and Julian Hall, both brought on late, because we still needed two goals... Do you think Serge Ngoma and Julian Hall succeeded? No, and not because they suck, but because they are young players who SHOULD NOT BE COUNTED FOR IMPORTANT MINUTES. And yet, they are. Because, hey, youth development! YOUTH DEVELOPMENT!!!

Where were we? Oh, right, the game recap. Metro allowed two identical goals in the 4th and 14th minute, with soft marking by the defense leaving space for Philly forwards to tuck the ball into the bottom left corner of the net past the late-diving Carlos Coronel. Seriously, the goals were mirror images of each other. But we still had 76 minutes! Metro could come back!

They didn't, of course. Not with Elias Manoel being stuffed from close range. Not with Dante Vanzeir being so isolated that a shot on goal seemed out of the question. Now with hitting the woodwork five times, FOUR IN THE SECOND HALF ALONE! Bad luck? Bad finishing? Cory Burke? No, Cory Burke didn't hit the woodwork at all. He barely touched the ball. Cory Burke!

So, the home unbeaten streak is over, and the league unbeaten streak is over, but the Philly winless streak is on. Oh, and Felipe Carballo actually made his debut, becoming the 400th player in team history. Not that we needed that much help in central midfield... as opposed to, you know, STRIKER!

But, hey, youth development. Nice to see Ngoma and Hall get minutes. Maybe they can take them away from Cory Burke...

Lineup: Coronel, Tolkin, Nealis, Eile, Duncan, Edelman, Donkor, Harper, Morgan, Manoel, Vanzeir. Subs: Nealis, Carballo, Burke, Ngoma, Hall.
