New York Red Bulls II earned a dominate 3-1 win against New England Revolution on Sunday night at MSU Soccer Park, but failed to advance to the playoffs because of results elsewhere.

New York Red Bulls II opened the scoring in the 38th minute of the match, when Mohammed Sofo slotted in a shot in the bottom right corner of the net.

New England came back in the 44th minute, as Liam Butts got on the end of a deflected ball.

New York added to their lead in the 49th minute after Ibrahim Kasule was taken out in the box and slotted his penalty kick. In the 56th minute, Rafael Mosquera whipped in a cross that was deflected by the goalkeeper towards Tanner Rosborough who picked up the ball and smashed it into the back of the net.

With one game left in the regular season, RBNY II trails the final playoff spot by four points, rendering the season finale meaningless.
