Just when you thought it couldn't get worse than last week, it did. The MetroStars, needing a tie in New England to clinch a playoff berth, played their worst half of the year, going down 3:0 and never recovering to lose the game by the same score. Although they can still make the playoffs if Chicago loses to Columbus Sunday, one must ask, why bother?
Taylor Twellman had a nice swan dive in the 5th minute to earn a penalty kick that he just scored past Paul Grafer. That was all the Revs needed; they got two more from Wolde Harris, the first in the 28th, as Grafer failed to hold the rebound and Harris pounded it in. The last came seven minutes later, as Harris beat Grafer to the long side.
The pathetic predictable Metro offense (one goal in the last three games) could not create anything, in what was probably Tab Ramos' last game. The Metros will find out tomorrow if their season is officially over, but for all intents and purposes, it might as well be. For even if they make the playoffs, this horrible team will be lucky to score a goal...
Oh. And Marcelo Balboa saw his first action of the season, playing the last five minutes of the game. Thank you, Marcelo, for a wonderful year!
Lineup: Grafer, Chronopoulos, Petke, Jolley, Ziadie, Paule, Lisi, Ramos, Williams, Faria, Diallo. Subs: Davis, Akwari, Balboa.
