Gio wants to come back
October 29, 2002
According to the New York Daily News, Metro all-time leading scorer Giovanni Savarese would like to come back to the team. Gio, who scored 44 goals (41 regular season) between 1996 and 1998, almost re-signed with the team in the middle of 2001, but the Metros decided to pick up Roy Myers and Gilmar instead. Savarese last played with Deportivo Italchacao in his native Venezuela and with Millwall in England. He now carries a green card and will not count against the foreigner limit. His last MLS action came for San Jose in 2000.
