Ten Best: Metro blowouts (update)
December 2, 2007

Since we last looked at the ten biggest blowouts in Metro history, an update has to be made. For descriptions of the initial top ten, see the original article, parts one and two.

  • 10) May 5, 2000: MetroStars 4, Chicago 1

  • 9) September 26, 2001: MetroStars 4, Los Angeles 1

  • 8) July 7, 2001: Miami 0, MetroStars 3

  • 7) May 2, 2001: MetroStars 4, Kansas City 1

  • 6) June 23, 2004: Los Angeles 0, MetroStars 3

A day of firsts sees the first league goal (of many) for Juan Pablo Angel, the third of the match, coming after John Wolyniec opened the scoring and Clint Mathis doubled the lead. Then, two minutes from time, rookie Sal Caccavale makes his Metro debut and promptly scores his first (and only) goal, in what is, as of this writing, his only first-team appearance.

  • 2) June 15, 2002: MetroStars 5, Los Angeles 0
